Janhvi Kapoor’s recently released Netflix film, ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’, which is based on the pilot Gunjan Saxena, the first Indian female air-force pilot in combat, however, the film has been hitting the headlines for portraying the male pilots negatively in the biopic.

Now, Namrita Chandi, who served in the Indian Air Force with Gunjan Saxena, in a long written letter, titled as, “Dear Makers Of ‘Gunjan Saxena’, You Cannot Peddle Lies In The Name Of Creative Freedom” has slammed the biopic for ‘peddling lies’, and also called it a ‘monstrous film,’ she wrote, “I have myself served as a helicopter pilot and I have never faced the kind of abuse and maltreatment as was portrayed in the movie. In fact, men in uniform are true gentlemen and professionals. They go out of their way to make lady officers comfortable and adjust”

Chandi also said that Gunjan is not the first lady pilot to fly to Kargil, “Srividya Rajan was the first lady pilot who flew to Kargil – not Gunjan. Though, I am certain that Srividya has no complaints about this credit being taken away from her.”

She agreed that there were troubles like no changing rooms or exclusive ladies toilets, but, she was not made uncomfortable. In fact, sometimes her ‘brother officers’ would stand outside and guard while she changed.

Further, she advised Janhvi Kapoor to never do such films again, “She must have come away with a poor and pathetic impression of us women. Lady, let me advice you, please, never again do a film of this kind if you are a proud Indian woman. Stop showcasing Indian professional women and men in such poor light.”
