In what comes across as a barbaric instance of ruthlessness, a headless body of a man with the limbs chopped off was found stuffed inside a travel bag near a bus stand in Delhi University’s North Campus on August 5.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi) Nupur Prasad told news agency PTI that the bag was found lying near the Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College bus stand in Timarpur police station area.
On Sunday, police said that the bag was found by a newspaper delivery boy during the early hours on Mall Road going towards Khyber Pass. The police were then informed that a suspicious-looking bag was lying near the bus stand after which the police reached the spot.
According to PTI, the official also added that a PCR van then reached the spot and unzipped the bag and found that a headless torso of a man aged between 28 and 30 years was stuffed in the bag.
The police discovered that the man’s legs had been chopped off from the torso and the limbs that were chopped off were then cut into two. The victim’s hands were also chopped off as they were missing from the bag when the police reached the spot. A team led by ACP (Civil Lines) Ashok Tyagi will look into the investigation.
The police have been unable to identify the deceased but have reportedly found a tag of a tailor shop on the shirt of the deceased. The body will be preserved in the mortuary in Sabzi Mandi for autopsy. DNA and other biological information about the deceased has been acquired and sent to the forensics department to probe further details and gain information about the identity of the corpse.
A report in The Times of India also stated that the police suggested that to kill the man, a sharp meat cleaver-like object had been used.
