Prevention Of Corruption Bill has been passed by the Lok Sabha.

06:15 pm:
Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Rajya Sabha spoke on Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act 2014 saying that we will fulfill all commitments made by former PM Manmohan Singh and our government.

Rajya Sabha proceedings have been adjourned for the day and will resume at 11 am tomorrow.

Finance Minister Piyush Goyal while speaking in the Rajya Sabha on the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act has said that, if Andhra Pradesh would have been given the special status, the state wouldn’t have received any more benefits than it is enjoying currently under the central government.

Mallikarjun Kharge, INC: Raises his concern over mob lynching of Akbar Khan in Alwar in Rajasthan. Says that the matter be investigated by sitting judge of Supreme Court. He accused that the state government is not dealing with the issue properly .

Md. Salim, CPI(M): Discussion on street justice by mob on lynching is not appropraite in Parliament. But it is the need of the hour, that we need to talk about it.

Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister: I want to clear, that we have taken the issue very seriously. This is not happening since last 3-4 years. Biggest lynching took place in 1984. Yesterday only a high level committee has been constituted to tackle with this matter, and based on the recommendations, group of ministers will take decisions on what steps needed to be taken. If the committee recommends that a law to be made, the Union government will make it.

Sudip Bandhyopadhyay, AITC, raises his concern over rising mob lynchings in the country. Takes on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh statement, in which he said that mob lynching is a state subject.

TDP MPs create ruckus in Lok Sabha over Special Status of AP

11.49 am:
Answering to a question raised by MP P Karunakaran, Agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh said that the government is committed to providing the minimum support price of more than 50% of the production cost to the farmers. He further added that the current proposition is in consonance with the Swaminathan formula and the suggestions made by the farmers’ commission in 2007.  Where as the government has included all expenses in the production cost while considering the support price.

Also he said that the introduction of e-mandi will ensure that the farmers get fair prices in the market.

Lok Sabha is now in the discussion of Minimum Support Prices as a part of the Question Hour.

Proceedings in both houses of parliament was adjourned yesterday at 06:35 pm and will resume at 11 am today.

Summary of yesterday’s session which was day 4 of Parliament Monsoon session:

1. The Negotiable Instruments Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha.
2. The Specific Relief Bill 2018 was passed by the Rajya Sabha.
3. The National Council for Teacher Education Bill, 2018 was passed as amended by the house in Lok Sabha.
4. The Congress has said it will move a privilege motion in the Lok Sabha against the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister on the Rafael issue.
5. The Criminal Law Bill, 2018 which provides for harsher punishment for those convicted of raping girls below the age of 12 years was introduced in the Lok Sabha.

Today is the Day 5 of the Monsoon session of Parliament and the heated debate between the political parties on specific issues is continuing. Among issues being lined up include the rising lynching cases, women’s safety and RTI Amendment Bill.
