Fuel prices were hiked again on Friday after a two days pause. The new hike has raised the cost of petrol and diesel to a new high. As per the new rates Petrol price was increased by up to 27 paise per litre and diesel by 28 paise. This is as per the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) data.

This is the 18th hike since May and after the revision of fuel rates a litre of petrol will cost ₹94.76 and a litre of diesel will cost ₹85.66 in the National Capital. In the financial hub Mumbai, the petrol price nears ₹101 marks as it rose to ₹100.98 per litre on Friday while the cost of diesel at ₹92.99 a litre.

Petrol prices had already crossed Rs 100 in many cities of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Fuel prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes such as VAT and freight charges. Rajasthan levies the highest value-added tax (VAT) on petrol in the country, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
