Speaking at the gathering, organised in the London School of Economics, Gandhi said, “The jobs crisis can be addressed, but India has to first accept that there is a problem.” The Congress chief while comparing China with India, said, as reported by NDTV, “Where China creates 50,000 jobs a day, only 450 jobs are created in a day in India. This is a catastrophe.”

Explaining the scope of India’s contribution in the global market, the 48-year-old leader said, “We can’t afford to have wars that have been happening for the last many years. Conflict is already operating. We can see Western Europe, China and other countries changing. We, India, have a role to play.”

He added, “Now India is much big and refined. India has its own vision and has a role to play in the world.  India with its non-violent ideas and our ability to show compassion to people who we don’t agree with is embedded in our culture.”

Gandhi also spoke about the violence he had experienced in his life. Referring to the assassination of his grandmother Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul stated that he had become more compassionate. He said, “As a victim of violence, I condemn any form of violence on anyone. I’m crystal clear about that.”
