Selena Gomez’s THIS Music Video Features a BTS Doll Cameo

Selena Gomez now has a doll version of her recent Boyfriend music video and it has a big surprise for the BTS ARMY. On April 29th, Selena shared a doll version of Boyfriend, directed by popular Instagram doll account selenagomez.doll. Much like the actual video, it features Selena Gomez going on dates with boy dolls who she ends up turning into frogs.

When the new video dropped, the sharp-eyed BTS ARMY was quick to spot that some boy dolls had a striking resemblance to Jin and Jungkook’s 2019 Mattel dolls.

Though Jin’s doll got a close-up shot, the Jungkook doll is a little harder to spot. However, the redheaded doll appears in the background a few times. In addition, fans also noticed that the Selena Gomez doll appears to be walking by a wardrobe of BTS clothes in the video.

“I was watching the official doll version of Selena Gomez’s ‘Boyfriend’ mv, and they used the Jin doll from the BTS X MATTEL collab. I was like, ‘WAIT, ain’t that seokjin??!'” one fan shared on Twitter.

Meanwhile, another BTS fan account said, “Can’t believe his doll and son RJ got into acting before he did.”

There were also some fans who couldn’t resist seeing this as a collab opportunity. “Here me out [sic], taylor and selena best friends, taylor asks who’s that handsome doll with stylish clothes and selena says bts. then taylor calls bh and BOOM collab.”

Teen Vogue reached out to the artist who runs the Selena doll account to learn more about how making the video went.

“The filming process takes a long time!” they said. “It’s usually just me sitting behind the camera moving the doll a little bit the taking the picture, and then repeating several thousand times.”

In addition, there was a simple explanation behind using the BTS dolls for the video.

“I used the BTS dolls in my video because they have a lot of articulation, so it’s easy for me to move their arms and to position them however I want to!”
