Serena Williams steps in as an investor and advisor of the Bumble Fund
Tennis superstar Serena Williams has invested in Priyanka Chopra’s networking and dating app, Bumble. Notably, the holder of 23 Grand Slam titles has stepped in as an investor and advisor of the Bumble Fund, the app’s fund that primarily backs start-ups led by women of colour.
In an exclusive interview with Mid-day, Priyanka Chopra said that Serena Williams has been a trailblazer in the world of tennis, making her a natural fit for the brand that believes in creating opportunities for women.
“I love the idea of empowering women so that they are able to, within the comforts of their homes and safety of whatever their environment is, take charge of their future. Not just their love life but also the opportunities that they want to create. It gives precedence to women and their choices,” the actress added.
Interestingly, Williams had previously featured in a commercial, titled #InHerCourt, for the networking app. she reportedly has invested in 30 companies through her own platform, Serena Ventures.
It is worth mentioning here that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas got married in December last year. The Desi girl tied the knot with Nick as per the Hindu and Christian traditions. Recently, the Jonas Brothers launched their comeback single ‘Sucker’. The music video stars the three brothers Nick, Kevin and Joe along with their better halves- Priyanka Chopra, Danielle Jonas, and Sophie Turner.
On the work front, Priyanka will be next seen in Shonali Bose’s ‘The Sky Is Pink’ alongside Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim and Rohit Saraf.
