Jammu and Kashmir: Srinagar receives first snowfall of season
Country’s summer capital — Srinagar — received the season’s first snowfall on Saturday. Due to the continuous downpour, the Valley was gripped with cold wave bringing the temperature below 10 degrees.
Initially, the snowfall began in the higher reaches of the Valley on Thursday, but with has come to Srinagar on Saturday, covering the localities with snow. People were seen commuting in their winter wear and enjoying the snowfall.
Considering the case of previous year, this time the first snowfall arrived early and it is speculated that this year it will be much colder in the Valley. Though the weather department has not clarified this officially, but with prevailing situations the cold breeze is going freeze the movement of the people in the Valley.
Tourists in the state are excited and are planning their holidays in the coming days. It is however said that temperature in Jammu and Kashmir decides the fate of country in the winter season.
