Taliban Claims Panjshir Falls As Top Commanders Killed
Taliban claimed control over all eight districts of Panjshir, Resistance forces deny
Taliban claimed control over all eight districts of Panjshir. They inflicted massive damage and casualties on the Resistance Force led by caretaker President Amrullah Saleh. He has been moved to an undisclosed location. The Taliban also claimed that top commanders of the Resistance Force, Fahim Dashti, Gul Haider Khan, Munib Amiri and Wadood, a nephew of Ahmad Shah Massoud, have been killed.
Celebratory gunfire resounded all over Kabul as the Taliban celebrated their victory. Facebook accounts were also full of mentions of the fall of Panjshir.
The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan put out a statement on Facebook, stating, ” With deep touch and regret, we lost two dear brothers and colleagues and fighters today. Fahim Dashti, the head of the office of Amir Saheb Ahmad Masoud, and General Sahib Abdul Wadood Zhor, the nephew of the national hero of Afghanistan in the battle against the fascist group. Congratulations on your martyrdom!”
But Taliban’s claims of gaining control over a large part of the region have been trashed by the resistance forces. In a statement on Twitter, it said, “Taliban’s claim of occupying Panjshir is false. The NRF forces are present in all strategic positions across the valley to continue the fight.”
As reported by sources to CNN-News18, Reportedly Pakistani forces are aiding the Taliban. Pakistan is providing air support to Taliban fighters in Panjshir. Some Special Forces have been airdropped to fight the Resistance.
The sources added. all major supplies and roads have been blocked by the militant group. Both sides have sustained major casualties in the ongoing operations.
