Tamil actor Siddharth receives death, rape threats; claims TN BJP leaked his number

Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth on Thursday claimed that he and his family have been receiving death, abuse, and rape threats after his personal mobile number was leaked by Tamil Nadu’s BJP IT cell. He took to his social media handle and also shared a screenshot.

The actor also shared a screenshot of the profile names of those who leaked his mobile number. In his tweet, he wrote: “My phone number was leaked by members of TN BJP and @BJPtnITcell Over 500 calls of abuse, rape and death threats to me & family for over 24 hrs. All numbers recorded (with BJP links and DPs) and handing over to Police. I will not shut up. Keep trying. @narendramodi @AmitShah”

In another tweet, the actor wrote: “This is one of many social media posts by BJP TN members leaking my number yesterday and telling people to attack and harass me. “Ivan inimela vaaye thirakka koodathu” (this fellow must never open his mouth again)We might survive Covid. Will we survive these people?”

Soon after, the hashtag #IStandWithSiddharth has been trending on Twitter and people have been supporting him. Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari also extended her support to Siddharth and wrote: “More power to you… #courage #IStandWithSiddharth”

Siddharth has been quite vocal in his opinions and has often criticized the ruling BJP government at the Centre. From CAA to NRC and the 2019 attack on Jamia students, he has slammed BJP for the same.

On the work front, Siddharth has many projects in his kitty. He will be seen next in South movies like Shaitan Ka Bachcha,  Takkar, Indian 2, Navarasa and Maha Samudram.
