Telangana: Cabinet passes resolution to dissolve assembly, CM rushes to inform Governor

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao in a joint meeting on Thursday with the cabinet has decided to dissolve state Assembly, paving way for early elections, 10 months prior than the decided schedule.

Minutes after the decision was passed, State Chief Minister met Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan and told him about the decision to dissolve the state Assembly.

On September 5, the ruling party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) had claimed that the decision to dissolve the
assembly and to go for an early election was mor-or-less finalised. Only the formal announcement is to be made the following day, as mentioned by PTI. Following the announcement, the sate cabinet had met  for the second time within a short span of five days.

According to sources mentioned in the Deccan Chronicle, TRS leader Chandrasekhar Rao, took the decision to delink Assembly elections, which were actually scheduled to be held next year along with the Parliamentary polls.

In the recent past, the Telangana government had announced quite a few measures, befitting different strata across the society. These introduction of these measures further gave rise to speculations that the party could go for early elections to encash the positive atmosphere prevailing about the government in the state.
