Hyderabad: Telugu actor Vizag Prasad dies at 75

Senior Telugu star Vijay Prasad — popularly known as Vizag Prasad after a prolonged illness breathed his last at the Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad. The 75 year Telugu actor had worked in several superhit movies and television serials including Idhi Maa Prema Katha, Subhapradam, Okka Kshanam and Lovers Club.

According to the report, Vizag Prasad took his last breath around 3 am on Sunday, October 21. The actor is survived by his wife Vidyawati and two children. Prasad was known for his antagonist role in the film Nuvvu Nenu starring the late actor Uday Kiran, for which he received critical acclaim.

The senior actor was born in Gopalapatnam, Visakhapatnam and was named Kollam Parvati Varaprasada Rao. His father is a teacher and he was the youngest one in his family. He had three sisters. Because he hailed from Visakhapatnam, his friends called him Vizag Prasad which later became his screen name.

The late actor made his acting debut in 1985 with the movie Babai Abbai. Over the period of his career, he had worked in more than 175 movies. Vizag was a very popular figure in the South Indian film industry and had worked with many generations of Tollywood actors.

His was last seen in 2017 with the movie Idhi Maa Prema Katha. The film starred Ravi and Meghana Lokesh in the lead role and was directed by Karthik Kodakandla.

Vizag Prasad’s death comes weeks after the death of 61-year-old actor-politician Nandamuri Harikrishna — passed away in a tragic car accident on the Annaparthi road near Narketpally in Telangana’s Nalgonda district in August this year.
