Earlier there were reports doing the rounds that The Expanse season 4 will be streaming on Syfy. But, it later, it was reported that Syfy canceled The Expanse in early 2018 and it was not long before Amazon scooped it up–fulfilling fans’ mission to #SaveTheExpanse, and in deliciously dramatic fashion.

Following the early release of Jack Ryan in October this year, Amazon has dropped the poster of The Expanse Season 4 and saved it from cancellation. Unlike the Syfy broadcast, this one is a bingeable full season drop so you can watch all the 10 episode at one sitting.

Was The Expanse Season 4 cancelled by Syfy broadcast?

In 2018, Syfy confirmed that they would not stream the fourth season of The Expanse. They also said that decision to cancel the series was “incredibly difficult” according to President of Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, Chris McCumber.

In a statement, he said: “The Expanse transported us across the solar system for three brilliant seasons of television,

“Everyone at Syfy is a massive fan of the series, and this was an incredibly difficult decision.”

Following Syfy’s decision to not renew The Expanse, Alcon Television Group, the production company behind it, revealed that they would be offering it up to some other buyers. And Amazon saved The Expanse with the fourth season.

Why did Amazon save The Expanse Season 4?

In order to save the popular series, not only people started the hashtag #SaveTheExpanse trend on social media worldwide but popular faces belonging to different parts of the world urged Amazon bosses to save it and renew the series.

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke even told Deadline how a certain Game of Thrones creator pleaded with CEO Jeff Bezos to buy The Expanse.
