UEFA Champions League: Angel Di Maria saves PSG the blushes; Monaco held by Club Brugge
Paris Saint-Germain were saved the blushes from Angel Di Maria who scored a brilliant goal in stoppage time to hold Napoli to a 2-2 draw at home in the Champions League.
Lorenzo Insigne, who had scored against Liverpool earlier in the competition once again on target as he netted the opener in the 29th minute to set things up rolling. Pouncing on a loose ball by Jose Callejon, Insigne netted the first goal in the 30th minute.
Despite having an abundance of quality in their attacking trio-Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe, Paris failed to score.
Nonetheless, they had a leveller to their name in the 61st minute when a low cross from Thomas Meunier found Marco Rui with whose deflection the ball went into the net.
But Napoli once again regained their lead when Dries Mertens scored from close-range. But eventually, it was decided Di Maria who scored in the stoppage time to hand his team the equaliser to fetch a point.
Wait for a win extended
Thierry Henry’s wait for a win as a manager with Monaco continued as his side drew 1-1 at Club Brugge. This win this gives them a point in Group A.
The French side took the lead in the 31t minute through 18-year Moussa Sylla. But Wesley scored for Brugge before the interval to level things up. Henry’s first match in charge of Monaco had resulted in a 2-1 loss to Strasbourg.
