As a true-leader, Kohli has always led his team from the front and in Australia, the fans and his teammates once again got the opportunity to witness that side of captain Kohli. His latest gesture has won the hearts of all the fans. It showed the world that great leaders are not made by achieving great success but by making bigger sacrifices.

Team India, who won the opening Test match in Adelaide, were travelling from Adelaide to Perth for the second Test match slated to begin from December 14.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan, who was also presumably in that flight, witnessed a great gesture from the Indian skipper and his wife. Vaughan later took to Twitter to reveal how Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma gave away their cosy and comfortable business class seats to the Indian fast bowlers so that they could give their body the much-needed rest and relax before the second Test, which gets underway later this week.

In a landmark victory, India defeated Australia by 31 runs in the opening Test, which is the nation’s first Test win in the Kangaroo Island since 2008. The victory was also the first time any Indian side had won the opening Test of a series and taken a 1-0 lead in Australia.

The bowlers along with Cheteshwar Pujara played a very influential role in the victory. While Pujara made a total of 194 runs in two innings that included a hundred and a half century, the bowlers took 20 wickets to bring forth the win.

India’s fast-bowling trio – Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah – bowled a combined 123.4 overs in the match under 40-degree hot weather and on a pitch that gave little assistance to the fast bowlers. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was also equally impressive and accounted for six wickets in the match. And their collective efforts led India to a historic victory on Australian soil.

Now Kohli’s gesture will not just give the bowlers additional rest but also boost the team’s confidence and unity ahead of the second Test.

Anushka has joined Kohli in Australia to celebrate their first marriage anniversary on December 11. The couple had, a year ago, tied the knot in a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy.
