Amidst the surging COVID-19 cases in India, Yash Raj Films to sponsor 30,000 vaccines for the registered workers in Bollywood industry, according to reports

Over the few weeks, India recorded the highest spike in Coronavirus outspread. The country’s single-day spike even crossed the mark of 3.7 lakh cases per day, which made it the highest spike ever since the pandemic hit the nation. The vaccination campaign has been beefed up across the country. Aditya Chopra-led Yash Raj Films to now vaccinate around 30,000 registered workers in the Bollywood industry.

Reportedly, Yash Raj Films will procure around 60,000 coronavirus vaccines on its own expenses in order to vaccinate people from the industry. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Akshaye Widhani (Senior Vice President from YRF) wrote in his letter, “With the film industry going through an unprecedented time, there is an urgent need to restart at the earliest so that thousands of workers can start earning their livelihood again and protect their families. Yash Raj Films, through The Yash Chopra Foundation, would like to offer its support in this regard. We have sent a request to the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra to allocate and allow us to purchase COVID•19 vaccines for 30,000 registered workers, who are members of the film industry’s federation in Mumbai at the earliest. The Yash Chopra Foundation will bear all other costs too associated with vaccinating the workers such as raising awareness, transportation of workers and setting up all the required infrastructure for the immunization program. We hope our kind request is approved which will enable our members to be safe and also get them back to work at the earliest.”

Ashoke Pandit, who is also the president of IFTDA ( Indian Film & TV Directors’ Association) took to his Twitter handle and shared the news.

For the unversed, India reported around 3,57,229 fresh COVID-19 cases, while the discharge count stands at 3,20,289. The death count is at 3,449 in the span of last 24 hours-according to the data issued by the Union Health Ministry.
