Manchester United confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager
Manchester United on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager till the end of the 2018-2019 season. Gunnar Solskjaer would have Mike Phelan as the coach of the first team along with Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna.

The Manchester club made this announcement a day after Jose Mourinho was sacked from the managerial role after being in charge of the club for two-and-half years.

A statement from the club read, “Solskjær will take charge of the first team with immediate effect and will remain in place while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new full-time manager. He will be joined by Mike Phelan as the first-team coach, working alongside Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna.”

Solskjaer, currently the manager of Norway’s FC Molde is a former striker for Manchester United where he managed to find the net 126 times out of the 366 times he represented the club. A player under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, Solskjaer took over the role of the club’s reserve-team manager before signing with FC Molde.
The former Norway forward, excited to take over the role said, “Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role. I’m really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club.”
His appointment was also welcomed by Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg who said that it was a great day for Norwegian football.

United have suffered their worst start to the Premier League in 28 years and are currently languishing at the sixth spot in the points table.
