Afridi reveals the reason behind his, ‘Boom Boom’ name

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, famously known as, ‘Boom Boom’ for his ability to whack maximums at will, recently revealed the reason behind this nickname. Taking to Twitter he answered a user’s question where he was asked about the person who gave him this nickname.

Afridi then revealed that the name was given to him by non-other than the current head coach of the Indian team, Ravi Shastri.

Before being associated with the Indian team, Shastri a former left-arm spinner was an active commentator. But now that he is the coach of the Indian cricket automatically restricts him from performing the role of a commentator once again, with BCCI’s, ‘conflict of interest’ clause.

Afridi, an entertaining all-rounder was one of the most fascinating characters both on and off the field. A veteran of 27 Tests, 398 ODIs, and 99 T20Is, the hard-hitting right-hander has hit a whopping 351 sixes in the 50-over format besides having 73 big hits in the abridged version of the game. He was one of the key members of the Pakistan team and last was seen in action in international cricket when he captained the ICC World XI against the West Indies.
