Vande Bharat’s Phase II: Air India opens online bookings on select flights from India

On Thursday, Air India has begun online bookings from India to select international destinations.


Amidst the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Air India has opened bookings on select International flights to be operated from India to the USA, the UK, Australia, Frankfurt, Paris, and Singapore under the second stage of the Vande Bharat Mission.

However, under the Vande Bharat mission, only residents of these countries will be qualified to fly on the outbound flights. In some of those flights, people holding a valid visa of a particular span of that country are also sanctioned.

Amid the coronavirus lockdown, the Centre started the Vande Bharat Mission – one of the largest initiatives to bring the stranded Indians back home on a payment basis. It also allowed foreign nationals and valid visa holders to book seats on these outbound flights.

National carrier Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express have been undertaking evacuation flights and they are operating a total of 64 flights and bring back over 14,000 stranded Indians from 12 countries under the mission.

At present, the number of reported coronavirus cases in India rose over 10 percent over the past two days to 85,940, updated by the Ministry of Health.
