Busan International Film Festival: Ali Fazal Lands Best Actor Nomination For ‘Ray’
Ali Fazal lands Best Actor nomination in the Asia Content Awards by the Busan International Film Festival for Netflix's 'Ray.'
Ali Fazal has been nominated for the category of Best Actor in the Asia Content Awards by the Busan International Film Festival for Netflix’s web series ‘Ray.’ In the series, he essayed the role of Ipsit Rama Nair, a successful entrepreneur, in the segment, ‘Forget Me Not’ it also stars Shweta Basu Prasad, Anindita Bose, and, Shruthy Menon. The anthology series is inspired by the works of Satyajit Ray.
It will compete against Terrance Lau in Leap Day, Bai Yu in The Long Night, Lee Je-hoon in Move to Heaven, Sakai Masato in Hanzawa Naoki, and Song Joong Ki in Vincenzo.
On the nomination, Ali Fazal said: “Wow! This was totally unexpected. I am so humbled to receive this nomination and it means a lot to be recognized by ACA. A lot of great content was produced this year in Asia and to land a nomination amongst such an impressive lineup of films and actors is an honour.”
Apart from Ali, Nushrratt Bharuccha has also bagged nominations for her Netflix show, ‘Ajeeb Daastaans.’
The Busan International Film Festival ceremony will take place at the Busan Cinema Center on the night of October 6. South Korean stars Lee Jun-hyuk and Lee Joo-young are all set to host the closing ceremony of the festival. The BIFF will screen 223 films from 70 countries, of which 92 will be world premieres and four will be international premieres.
