Amarnath Yatra: Maharashtra pilgrim passes away of Cardiac Arrest

As per police report an Amarnath pilgrim from Maharashtra today died of cardiac arrest on the way to the holy cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.

A police official said Samarjeet Sarja, 52, died at Domail along the Baltal route in the south Kashmir Himalayas this morning.

This year’s pilgrimage which which began on June 28 the death toll has gone up to 21 with this death.

In another incident, Thirteen Amarnath pilgrims were injured when their vehicle rammed into a stationary truck on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway today, a police official said.

Also, Thirteen pilgrims travelling in the vehicle were injured and admitted to a district hospital in Udhampur.

These injured pilgrims was stated to be “serious” and they are being taken to the Government Medical College Hospital.

Then during minor flood ten of the injured pilgrims are residents of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh, three others are from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.

Among tight security, in the early hours today the fresh batch of pilgrims had left in a fleet of vehicles from here for the twin base camps of Baltal in Ganderbal and Pahalgam in Anantnag district to pay obeisance at the 3,880 metre high cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.

Out of which 2,217 pilgrims opted for the traditional 36-km Pahalgam track, while 1,202 others are performing the yatra through the 12-km Baltal route.
