Who is America to order India from where to take oil: Asaduddin Owaisi

With United States suggesting India to end oil imports from Iran, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi seems angry and have questioned America’s authority to interfere in India’s sovereignty matters. He also questioned whether India will have take orders from US from where to buy oil or not.

Addressing a public meeting in Hyderabad on Friday, Owaisi stated, “Who is he to tell India? Who are you to say take (oil) from here, from there? Would the US president say what to buy and from where by interfering in India’s sovereignty?”

Owaisi was reacting on the United States’ comment, earlier this week, where they said India and other countries should not buy oil from Iran and cut their imports from Iran to “zero” by November 4, else they might have to face sanctions which would not be waived.

According to the data, Iran is the third largest oil supplier country for India after Iraq and Saudi Arabia. India imported 18.4 million tonnes of crude oil from Iran during April 2017 and January 2018 (first 10 months of 2017-18 fiscal). Owaisi was of the opinion that India too should firm up its policy against America, like the way Europe, Russia and China did.

Criticising the Narendra Modi government for failing to fulfill poll promises, Owaisi alleged that Modi had said in 2014 that he would decreaUS urge India to stop oil imports from Iran by Novemberse the oil prices to Rs 40/litre, but now the rate of petrol has gone to Rs 82/litre.

As the general elections are coming nearer, political parties are targeting each other. Owaisi too did the same and challenged Modi and Congress to contest elections from Hyderabad. He also challenged that even after BJP and Congress contest together, AIMIM will will the Lok Sabha seat from Hyderabad.

He said, “Mr Modi, you contest a seat from here also. If not fighting, send your Shah. I am telling Congressmen also. Both fight together, still Majlis (AIMIM) would be successful.”
