James Anderson: If Virat Kohli says his runs don’t matter, he is lying

Veteran England fast bowler James Anderson stated that Indian skipper Virat Kohli is lying if he feels that his rums won’t make much of a difference. At beginning of the England tour, Virat Kohli said,”It doesn’t matter whether I get runs or don’t. What I want is the team to play well and win.”

James Anderson has clearly denied to this statement as he feels that Virat Kohli’s form will be crucial in the upcoming series if India desire to triumph. The Indian run machine had a horrendous five match series in England in 2014 when he managed just 134 runs in the entire series which is accountable to nothing from the standards he possesses.

For India to win here, of course it matters. Virat will be desperate to score runs for his team, as you would expect from the captain and one of the best players in the world,” James Anderson said.

James Anderson will be well aware of the fact that Kohli is a different man from the sorry series that he had in 2014. He has made necessary changes to his game and he showed his mettle in the home series against England when he scored 655 runs in five tests against England leading team India to a 4-0 victory.

“Today, cricketers learn from not only watching match footage but also from past experiences. So I would expect a batsman of Kohli’s quality to have learnt from that last series here (in 2014). I am sure he (Kohli) is practising hard at certain aspects of his game and that will make the battle between him and not just myself, but him and the rest of our bowlers, a really exciting one”, the 35 year old added.
