When Arijit Singh praised Pakistani singer Atif Aslam
Arijit had said that it is not important whether the artist is from India or Pakistan, but rather the music that counts.
Who does not love listening to Atif Aslam and Arijit Singh? These two names might belong to two different countries but they are undoubtedly the biggest names in the music industry. Arijit Singh, which is dubbed as India’s number 1 singing sensation, does not believe in making a lot of headlines and prefers staying away from controversies.
Over the years, Arijit Singh has given us dozens of hits including Tum Hi Ho, Pachtaoge, Kabira, Ve Maahi, Aayat among others. There has been an everlasting debate on whether Arijit Singh or Atif Aslam is the best singer? There have been various occasions when Arijit Singh was compared to his contemporary Atif Aslam.
Responding to the comparison, Arijit Singh had once broken his silence and said that he considers Atif Aslam as a singer who has got better over a period of time. Arijit had also revealed that his song Jeena Jeena from the movie Badlapur has turned out pretty well.
Interestingly both Jeena Jeena sung by Atif and Judai sung by Arijit from the Badlapur turned out a chartbuster.
In an interview, Arijit had also spoken about how there is no need to bring the Pakistan-India approach when it comes to the music industry.
Responding to the controversies regarding Pakistani singers coming to Bollywood and singing Hindi songs, Arijit had said that it is not important whether the artist is from India or Pakistan, but rather the music that counts.
Arijit was quoted as saying, “It is totally absurd and a weird thing to say. I am an Indian singer- I sing not just in Hindi but in Urdu as well. Aren’t we huge fans of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ghulam Ali? The place is not important when it comes to music. All this is nonsense. Music is beyond boundaries.”
On the other hand, when a fan asked Atif who is the best singer between him and Arijit Singh, to which he replied, “Of course… Arijit!”
He then went on and had said, “Jis ko Khuda izzat daita hai uss ko aap ko bhi izzat daini chahiye [If God’s kind to someone you should also respect them]. Arijit ko izzat mili hai [Arijit has been blessed] people should respect him. I am no one to control anyone. We need to understand there’s no such thing as number one.”
