Ayushmann Khurrana Set To Romance Mrunal Thakur In Stree Rog Vibhaag

Ayushmann Khurrana has carved a niche for himself in the Bollywood film industry with his eccentric and socially driven characters. Whether he is bucking the norm regarding late pregnancies through Badhaai Ho or giving a valuable lesson of self acceptance through Bala, Ayushmann has the formula for entertaining film choices down. The actor is ready to dive right back in with his next presentation in the form of Junglee Pictures’ Stree Rog Vibhaag.

While there were several names being thrown around for the female lead, it seems that the leading lady has now been finalized. Alaya F and Bhumi Pednekar were some of the names that were being speculated for the role. However, it seems that Mrunal Thakur is to be the final choice.

A source close to the development informs Pinkvilla, “The makers were looking at someone to essay the female lead’s part opposite Ayushmann. They wanted a girl who would look convincing carrying off a completely desi character. They were indeed in talks with Bhumi Pednekar and Alaya F, but we hear things didn’t materialise with them. Now, they have roped in Mrunal Thakur for the role and she has also given her nod to the project.”

Stree Rog Vibhaag will see Ayushmann Khurrana in the role of a gynaecologist. Following the pattern of other Ayushmann films, the film will also challenge social norms.

In addition, Ayushmann is also working in Anubhav Sinha’s next action thriller. On the other hand, Mrunal will be seen in Farhan Akhtar starrer Toofan, Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey, Sidharth Malhotra starrer Thadam remake and Umesh Shukla’s next Aankh Micholi with Abhimanyu Dassani.
