BCCI skips ACC meet; BCB’s Nazmul Hasan named president till 2020

Citing “security reasons”, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) didn’t send its representative to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which was held in Lahore.

Despite the members of the BCCI skipping the meet, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hasan took over as the president of the ACC succeeding Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani. Hasan would be the president till the year 2020.

According to an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the only absence in the meeting was of the BCCI and it was attended by all 33 nations including full members like Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

The official said, “Dave Richardson the CEO of the International Cricket Council also attended the meeting.”

A source in the PCB was quoted by PTI  as saying, “BCCI had conveyed to the PCB and ACC it was not in a position to attend the meeting due to existing political situation and security concerns. It is for the first time in the ACC history in 35 years that India has not attended a General Body meeting.”
