Bhopal shelter home case: Director, wife arrested for sexual abuse of inmate

The Muzaffarpur shelter home case has still not been solved yet and a new case of sexual abuse has come into the limelight from Madhya Pradesh. Police have arrested six people on Friday from a shelter home in Bhopal after an inmate alleged that she was raped and made to undergo an abortion by the staff. Among the arrested include director of a shelter home and his wife.

The matter came to light when the women and child development department team visited the shelter home. During the conversation with the 24-year-old woman, the team found out that she was forced to abort and burn her fetus in order to destroy evidence. The woman revealed the insights, through an interpreter, to the team.

According to a report published in the Indian Express, nine people have been booked in the case. The big names associated with the case include — 60-year-old director Dr V K Sharma and his wife, Dr Pushpa Mishra, Prabha Yadav and a guard. All of them have been arrested. The team inspected the shelter home after the government orders for periodical inspections.

Police claim that these are not the first arrests made by them. Last week too they have arrested the director of a shelter home and orphanage near Bhopal for similar charges. Also, last month another director of a shelter home in Bhopal was arrested after few inmates accused him of rape and molestation.
