BJP tightens belt after opposition unite; plans Shah, Modi visit in UP

With barely 11 months remaining for the upcoming General Elections or 2019 Lok Sabha elections, all the political parties have started their poll strategy and are on setting their focus straight forward. Smelling the unity of opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to counter their united opposition. Leading top brass leaders from the party, like Prime Minister Narendra Modi  and party president Amit Shah are about to visit the state in July to strengthen the base.

As per to the party sources, Modi was in Maghar in Sant Kabir Nagar district of eastern Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, is scheduled to visit his home constituency Varanasi on July 15,  while Shah who was on a two-day West Bengal tour, will visit the state next week. The party president will be on a two-day tour, like West Bengal, where he will meet the grassroot- level workers of both the eastern and central UP in in Mirzapur on July 4. Shah’s busy schedule says that he will visit the holy city of Varanasi on the same day and leave for Agra to meet the party workers on July 5.

According to the sources in the party, Union Minister and BJP ally Apna Dal leader Anupriya Patel will also be travelling with Shah in order to keep the cadre active in the state and resolve differences. Since, the local MP of Mirzapur has a strong base in Mirzapur and eastern UP, her presence is felt significant among other allies too, like Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party leader Om Prakash Rajbhar, who mostly is on a resentment mode.

Uttar Pradesh becomes a prominent state as it has 80 Lok Sabha seats and its is said that winning UP means winning India. Senior party leader are of the opinion that big leaders are about to visit the state to keep the party members motivated for the upcoming polls. One of them said that he might not be surprised if Modi visit every month here.

Taking the charge, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Varanasi on Friday to hold meetings with the organisation leaders and take a stock of the preparations for the visit of Modi and Shah. Targetting Modi earlier, opposition had asked him to visit Varanasi after the flyover had fallen on moving traffic, which killed 18.
