However, the mother is out of danger, but son died on Tuesday. According to Hindustan Times report, the mother, Ayare took Harsh to Juhu beach, then went to a shop and bought rat poison around 11 pm. She first consumed the poison herself and then fed it to her minor son Harsh.

When the minor boy started vomiting, the panicked mother Ayare rushed him to Cooper Hospital at around midnight.

“The rat poison caused irreversible damage to Harsh who succumbed to liver failure overnight. Rina’s condition is also critical. She will soon be shifted to the medical intensive care unit. The doctors are still unsure about the quantity of poison the two consumed,”  the assistant medical officer of the hospital told  Hindustan Times.

“A case was registered against Rina Ayare under the charge of murder,” said Vinod Kanavaje of Santacruz police station.

Initial probe suggests that the tragedy started with marital discord. Ayare, who lives in a low-income area of Shivaji Nagar, on Juhu Tara road, with her husband Rajesh, had asked for money to meet household expenses on Monday night, around 9.30pm.

When Rajesh refused to give Ayare money and an altercation followed between the two she left the house around 10.30pm, with five-year-old Harsh.
