The unfortunate widespread of novel Coronavirus led to the imposition of complete lockdown in the entire nation. While the whole country was on lockdown, the spread of the virus was still taking place. On Friday i.e May 29th India recorded its largest jump to have positive cases of COVID-19 with an added count of 7,466 patients in just one single day. The nation also emerged as the ninth worst-hit country in the world by the pandemic.
As per the reports, the total number of coronavirus cases in the entire country stands to the whopping number- 1,65,79, which includes both active cases- 89,987 and the count of people who cured- 71,105. As reported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday, the total death toll has now reached 4,706 deaths (the cases have climbed up, registering an increase of 194 deaths and 6,566 cases in the 24 hours since Wednesday 8 am).
As per the real-time data maintained by Johns Hopkins University & Medicine, put India’s death toll higher at 4,695, as of 10.45 pm, and ahead of China’s count of fatalities at 4,638 as per its tracker. It also puts India’s tally of confirmed cases much higher at more than 1.65 lakh and recoveries at over 70,500.
India has now overtaken Turkey as the ninth worst-hit country in terms of the total number of COVID-19 cases. India’s count of recoveries is the tenth-largest now after the US, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Iran and China.
