As per the new guidelines issued by the Centre, the number of people per “session” may go up to 200 depending on the logistics. The Centre also said that states and union territories will be allowed to fix the days for vaccination.

Zee News reports, The Centre has planned to deliver 60 crore shots at two jabs each to 30 crore people. These will be those above the age of 50, and those under 50 with serious co-morbidities, healthcare and frontline workers.

Based on the voter list people above 50 years of age will be identified. After this, the rest of the population will be given the Covid-19 vaccine, whenever it is ready for public use.

The Centre is planning to use community halls and makeshift tents for the purpose of vaccination. Each vaccination site will have five vaccination officers, including a security guard, and one for waiting, one for vaccination and one for observation. Each person will be monitored for 30 minutes after the vaccination for ‘adverse events following immunisation’.

Reportedly 250 to 300 million people will be vaccinated against coronavirus in the first phase on priority by July next year.
