According to the health ministry’s CoWin guidelines issued on Sunday, one person will be able to register only three more eligible people using their mobile number. But those with specified comorbidities will have to produce a medical certificate. It should be attested by a registered medical practitioner. The certificate should be handed over at the time of vaccination at the chosen Covid vaccine centre.

But due to some confusion among the beneficiaries regarding the self-registration process. The government has issued a clarification that the registration can be done through CoWIN web portal and not the mobile application.

It so happens that there is a CoWin App on Playstore but it is meant for vaccine administrators and not the general public. For the general public, the website www.cowin.gov.in is open.

Registration and booking for an appointment for #COVID19 Vaccination is to be done through #CoWIN Portal: https://cowin.gov.in. There is NO #CoWIN App for beneficiary registration. The App on Play Store is for administrators only,” the health ministry clarified in a tweet.
