Digvijay Singh hits back at Mayawati’s allegations

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Wednesday came out in his defence and said that he had been one of the bitterest critics of PM Modi, Amit Shah, BJP and RSS. He was reacting to the comments made by Bahujan Samaj Party Supremo Mayawati, where she called him a BJP agent and decided to contest solo in the upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan.

Asked on his reactions to BSP chief’s allegations, Singh said, as quoted by ANI, “Please ask her, as far as I am concerned, I had been one of the bitterest critics of Modi ji, Amit Shah ji, BJP and RSS. Rahul Gandhi is our Congress chief, we follow his directions.”

The congress stalwart was of the opinion that this is not the first time Mayawati has alleged something like that. Expressing his opinion, he claimed that he was always in favour of Congress-BSP alliance in Chhattisgarh, but Mayawati herself aligned with Ajit Jogi’s Janata Congress. Singh said, “I’ve already made it clear that I respect Mayawati ji and has been in favour of Congress-BSP alliance from beginning. In Chhattisgarh, there were talks for alliance but she didn’t go for it. In MP too there were talks of alliance, she declared 22 candidates.”

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala came out in defence too and said, “At times, out of emotions, sweet and bitter things are said. But at last, if Mayawati ji holds absolute trust in Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi then other creases can be ironed out.” He was reacting to Mayawati’s comments in which she said, “I feel that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi’s intentions for Congress-BSP alliance are honest. However some Congress leaders are sabotaging this.”
