The world Football body has recently switched to a modified version of the ELO system ranking that changes the ranking with every match, unlike the previous ranking which was updated once every month.

It was, however, for the seventh straight month that India remained in the top 100 rankings. The nation is currently preparing for the upcoming AFC Cup, which is slated to kick-off in January next year. The subcontinent is ranked higher than two its Group A opponents in Thailand (122) and Bahrain (112) but is 20 places behind UAE (77), the final group in the inter-continental tournament.

India is also ranked as the 15th best team in Asia.

Among the others in the top 10, Denmark slipped a spot down to 10th, with Spain jumping a place up to claim the position.  Brazil, Croatia, Uruguay, England, Portugal and Switzerland completed the top 10.

In the biggest movers in the rankings, Ukraine jumped six places to be placed at 29th, while the Czech Republic dropped three places to be placed at 47th.
