Fuel price hike: Petrol costs Rs 87.82 per litre in Mumbai, Rs 82.36 per litre in Delhi

The vehicle users across the country are worried as the prices of fuel rose again on Thursday. Notably, the petrol is being sold at Rs 82.36 per litre in Delhi and Rs 87.82 per litre in Mumbai. The diesel is being retailed at Rs 74.62 per litre and Rs 78.22 per litre in Delhi and Mumbai respectively.

The petrol prices were increased by Rs 0.10 and Rs 0.90 in Delhi and Mumbai respectively. A spike of the hike was also witnessed in diesel prices by Rs 0.27 and Rs 0.29 respectively.

The news agency ANI quoted, “Petrol and diesel prices in #Delhi are Rs 82.36 per litre (increase by Rs 0.10) and Rs 74.62 (increase by Rs 0.27) respectively. Petrol and diesel prices in #Mumbai are Rs 87.82 per litre (increase by Rs 0.9) and Rs 78.22 per litre (increase by Rs 0.29) respectively.”

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government on Wednesday reduced petrol and diesel price by Rs 2.50 per litre. The new rates will come into effect from today. On the other hand, the Delhi government has refused to reduce value added tax (VAT) on the fuel price in the state, despite the Centre announcing a cut of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices.

On Wednesday, only the price of diesel saw a marginal hike. In Delhi, diesel saw an increase of Rs 0.24 per litre and was pegged at Rs 74.35. In Mumbai, diesel saw an increase of Rs 0.25 per litre and was pegged at Rs 77.93. However, the price of petrol remained same.
