Ever since HBO’s television show ‘Game Of Thrones’ hit the small screen in 2011, it has left fans hooked to the drama of family politics, dragons, and illicit relationships.

Now, with the eighth season fast approaching, fans are playing the guessing game of who will survive the Winter and will Westeros manage to hold against the onslaught of the Night King?

Well, just as the first episode of the eighth season is all set to hit the small screens, we bring a recap of the seven seasons for die-hard ‘GOT’ fans.

Here it is a break down of all the seven seasons of the fantasy caper for fans.

Game of Thrones Season 1 Recap

The first season of the fantasy drama introduces all the main characters in a unique manner.

Members of the Night’s Watch encounter a White Walker a supernatural being assumed to be mythical.

The Warden of the north Ned Stark is visited in Winterfell by Robert Baratheon the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms who invites him to be his Hand as the previous Hand Of King suddenly dies.

Ned’s daughters Sansa who is promised as a bride to the king’s son and Arya travel with him to King’s Landing.

Baratheon’s wife Cersei and her brother Jamie Lannister who are in an illicit relation are spotted in bed by Bran Stark, who is pushed out of the window by Jamie and ends up paralyzed.

Tyrion Lannister Cersies brother who is a dwarf accompanies Ned’s bastard son Jon Snow to investigate the White Walker incident. Jon stays on with the Night Watch. Tyrion is arrested as Catelyn Stark believes he pushed her son out of the window. he is kept at the Vales under Catylens sister Lysa Arryn’s watchful eye. Tyrion escapes after enlisting Bronn to fight for him with Arryns chosen champion

Baratheon is fatally wounded in a hunting expedition and Ned is named Protector of the realms until Cersei’s son comes of age. Ned plans to install Stannis Baratheon the king’s brother but is betrayed by Lord Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish and decapitated on Joffrey’s orders.

Sansa is imprisoned while Arya escapes. Ned’s son Robb Stark is named the King Of Winterfell and he rallies the armies of North to fight with the Lannisters.

Across the North Sea, Daenerys Targaryen is promised to Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo by her brother Viserys in return of an army to reclaim their home. Drogo dies after being hexed by a witch. Daenerys avenges him and hatches three dragon eggs presented to her as a wedding gift and is then also known as Mother Of Dragons.

Game of Thrones Season 2 Recap

Stannis Baratheon under the influence of witch Melisandre lays claim to the Iron Throne.

Robb Starks imprisons Jamie Lannister and moves North with his army. His mother Catelyn meets Renly Baratheon and asks him to join forces with his brother but he refuses. Renly is murdered in a mysterious manner by Melisandre.

The blame of the murder falls on Renly’s bodyguard and Catelyn who escape and rejoin Robb. A plan to swap Jamie with Sansa is then hatched.

At the Wall, Jon defects from Night Watch and joins the Wildlings. Arya is captured and taken on as a servant by patriarch Tywin Lannister who thinks she is a boy but she soon escapes with the help of Jaqen H’ghar.

Stannis tries to capture Kings Landing by sea but is defeated.

Daenerys tries to gain support from Qarth to invade Westeros but is imprisoned with her slaves. She finally gains freedom and escapes.

Game of Thrones Season 3 Recap

Tyrion is blamed by Tywin for the death of his wife in childbirth and forces him to marry Sansa. Whereas Joffrey is engaged to Margaret Tyrell to establish a Tyrell-Lannister alliance.

Jon meets Wildling leader Mance Rayder and finds himself in a relationship with Ygritte. Robb decides to marry Talisa rather than Roslin Frey. But Lord Walder Frey in revenge kills Robb, Catelyn, Talisa and most of the bannerman at a Red Wedding.

Arya who witnesses the massacre is protected by the Hound. Roose Bolton for his part in the killing is made the warden of North.

As Brienne and Jamie continue their journey, Daenery is seen gathering an army of the unsullied.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Recap

Cersei’s son Joffrey is poisoned to death at his wedding, whereas Sansa is helped by Littlfinger who smuggles her to Lysa Arynn. But in her jealousy, Sansa’s aunt who tries to murder her is pushed to death by her suitor Baelish.

Jaime and Brienne arrive at King’s Landing and Brienne who is now a knight errant is given the task of tracking down Sansa.

Cersei blames her brother Tyrion for the death of her son and imprisons him. He is soon freed by his brother Jaime. Tyrion kills his father and crosses the Narrow Sea hoping to join hands with Daenerys to defeat his sister Cersei.

Roose Bolton is back in Winterfell and finds that his son has tortured Theon to the point of madness. Theon now only responds to the name Reek.

Jon Snow returns to warn the Night’s Watch about the Mance Rayder’s forces laying siege to Castle Black. Stannis men backed by the financers Iron Bank ride to the rescue.

Arya and the hound are found by Brienne who defeats Clegane. Arya runs to study under the mysterious Jaqan H’ghar at the House of Black and White in Braavos.

Game of Thrones Season 5 Recap

Stannis defeats Rayder and burns him on a stake. He is later convinced by Melisandre to burn his daughter to make the Gods happy and bless him in his quest. Jon Snow, on the other hand, is now the elected the leader of the night watch.

Littlefinger weds Sansa to Ramsay Bolton and her life become a misery under the demented man. Stannis who has come to fight the Boltons is deserted by his army and killed by Brienne. Melisandre escapes the Black castle. Sansa with the help of Theon finally manages to escape from Ramsey’s clutches.

Cersei is held guilty of her illicit relationship by the High Sparrow and forced to enact the naked walk of penance through the streets of the capital.

Daenerys captures the city of Mereen with her army of the Unsullied. But is soon embroiled in a battle with Sons Of Harpy. She is soon whisked off to safety by her Dragons. She lands in the middle of the Dothraki horde. Tyrion achieves his objective of meeting Daenerys and wins her trust.

Jon tries to form an alliance between the Night Watchmen and the Wildlings but an attack by the Night King puts an end to his dream. On his return to the wall, he is killed by some mutineers.

Game of Thrones Season 6 Recap

Jon is raised from the dead by Melisandre and he soon takes control over the Night’s Watch. Sansa and Jon are reunited at the Wall. Jon decides to reclaim Winterfell from Ramsay and in the ensuing Battle of the Bastards Ramsay is defeated and fed to his dogs all thanks to the Knights of The Vale and Littlfinger joining the fray.

Cersei faces trial at Kings Landing as the High Sparrow continues to dominate her son King Tommen. She finally takes the matter in her hands and blows up the Great Sept of Baelor instantly killing Margaery and the High Sparrow. Her son Tommen commits suicide in his grief over Margaery death.

Daenerys who is expected to live a secluded wife as a widow of the late Khal soon persuades the Dothraki of her divine powers by walking on fire. She returns to Mereen as their leader.

Theon returns to Iron Islands and with his sister, Yara Greyjoy steals the royal fleet from their uncle Euron. They pitch sails to join Daenerys.

Arya leaves the House of Black and White as a trained assassin and slits the throat of Walder Frey thus avenging the deaths of her mother and brother.

Bran who is training under Three-Eyed Raven meets the Night King who slays the master and helps him to succeed.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Recap

Daenerys takes her army of the Unsullied and the Dothrakis aboard the Frey ships and moves towards Dragonstone. Mellisandre asks her to join forces with Jon Snow.

Snow and Daenerys meet at Dragonstone and plan how to defeat the Lannisters and the White Walkers. Finally, they send Yara and the Unsullied to King’s Landing.

Cersei offers Euron Greyjoy to prove himself by defeating Yara and the unsullied for her hand in marriage. Euron defeats the invaders at sea.

Battles erupt between Dothraki and the Lannister battalions that is led by Jamie. Drogon the dragon is injured in it. Jamie warns Cersei of Daenerys power thanks to the dragons and finally, a truce is declared between the Lannisters and Daenerys.

Jon and Daenerys head North to capture a white walker, but Jon gets trapped by the Night King. Daenerys comes for his help but loses her dragon Viserion to the Night King.

Joe and Daenerys head to King’s Landing with their captured White Walker. After convincing Cersei, Jon, Daenerys, and Tyrion head back to Winterfell where Snow and Targaryen become intimate.

Arya and Sansa are reunited with their brother Bran at Winterfell, as Little Finger tries to create tension between the sisters. His schemes are soon exposed by Bran and on knowing that he is the reason behind the death of Jon Arryn, Sansa has him executed. Bran also learns that Jon is not, in fact, Ned Stark’s bastard but a Targaryen with a legitimate claim to the Iron Throne.

The Wall crumbles against the onslaught of the Night King and Viserion who is now an undead dragon of ice.
