Ganesh Chaturthi (which is also called as Vinayak Chaturthi) is one of the biggest festivals in India. The festival of elephant-headed Hindu god is celebrated widely in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu and several other parts of the country. The auspicious occasion marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, one of the sons of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The festival which marks the birth of lord usually comes in the month of August or September as per the Gregorian calendar.
