On 27th September 1998, Page and Bin brought up an idea to launch a search engine ‘Google’ which has changed the entire world. In a newspaper, the duo wrote, “We chose our systems name, Google, because it is a common spelling of googol [10 to the power of 100, or 1 followed by 100 zeroes] and fits well with our goal of building very large-scale search engines.”

Speaking about their mission or aim behind introducing the search engine ‘Google’, they stated that from the outset, was “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful”, and its unofficial slogan is “Don’t be evil”.

You must know the popularity of Google as it is not being run in one or 10 languages. Yes, Google is currently available in more than 100 languages. Years after its invention, the verb Google, is inducted in the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary and the Oxford English Dictionary, meaning “to use the Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet.”

Google celebrates its 21st Birthday with its Doodle

Google — which is known for dedicating its doodle every day for the birthday of well-known personalities or historical events — today dedicated to Google its self to mark 21st birthday.

The first Google Doodle was dedicated to the Burning Man Festival of 1998. It was designed by Page and Brin themselves to notify users of their absence in case the servers crashed. The following changes were designed by an outside contractor until the founders asked then-intern Dennis Hwang to design a logo for Bastille Day in 2000. From then on, Doodles have been organised and created by a team of employees termed “Doodlers”.

As per the commercial web traffic monitoring company — Alexa — Google.com is the most visited website across the globe. Besides, Google.com, there are several other services run by Google, are also among the top 100 most visited websites, including YouTube and Blogger.

We wish Google a very happy birthday and hope it will continue to answer our queries in future as well.
