Google Offers Google Meet To Video Chat With Up To 16 People

Due to COVID-19 lockdown, a lot of people are forced to work from home. While work from home provides a good alternative to sitting at home without work, it offers its own challenges. The biggest hurdle in the way of work from home is communication. Video calls have become an essential medium to hold meetings. While ZOOM app provided a good way to connect with your colleagues, it has recently come under fire for security reasons. However, Google is now providing a better solution in Google Meet.

Google is bringing a new update to Google Meet which can provide the option to video call with up to 16 people.

“With Meet in Gmail, you can easily start or join a meeting in seconds,” Google wrote in a blog post. “Our goal is to help you follow the flow of the day, seamlessly switching between email and video meetings—whichever form of communication you need.”

As per reports, Google has strongly recommended users to avoid video conferencing on Zoom. According to a mail sent by the company to its employees, they have been instructed to delete the app as soon as possible as it presents a risk of a data breach.

Google’s security team had previously informed that the Zoom app has not passed the security checks. Therefore, it posses a risk for sensitive data. However, users can continue to use the app for calling up friends and family.

Google announced last Thursday that Meet, which is available on a desktop browser or through mobile apps, was adding 2 million new users per day and had more than 100 million education users across 150 countries.
