In order to protect “national interest and security,” the Indian government in June had imposed a complete ban on the use of 59 Chinese mobile applications. The list of these apps included TikTok, CamScanner, ShareIt and few others.  This decision came into light after the violent clash between the Indian Army and the Chinese Army at the Galwan Valley.

As per the latest reports, the government has banned more apps which were the clones of Chinese apps.

As per ANI tweet, “Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology bans 47 apps which were variants and cloned copies of the 59 Chinese apps that were banned in June. These banned clones include Tiktok Lite, Helo Lite, SHAREit Lite, BIGO LIVE Lite and VFY Lite.”

The development comes just a few days after the Indian Government warned the owners of the 59 Chinese apps to strictly obey the ban orders. The government said that those violating the order would face serious action. The government stated that the apps were banned in exercise of the sovereign powers and Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
