Former I-League champions Aizawl FC continued its torrid run after being held to a barren draw by the young Indian Arrows at the Barbati Stadium in Cuttack on Friday.

The draw – their third straight winless run – dropped Aizawl to ninth in the point standings. They have six points from nine matches with just one win. Arrows are a rung below them with two points and two games less played.

In a game that was full of miss passes and wayward shots, Boris Singh had the best opportunity but his bullet from outside the box struck the upright giving a deserved end to the match.

Arrows, unlike Aizawl, at least created chances to score and could have easily claimed their second victory of the season had they found the back of the net. Their best opportunity in the first half came from Boris’ cross in the 41st minute. But despite having plenty of space, Rahim Ali failed to place the resultant header on target.

Meanwhile, Aizawl’s only opportunity came five minutes after the break when Leonce Dodoz found himself through on goal but was blocked before making any shot.

That was Aizawl’s only goal-scoring chance from the game as they spent most of the 90 minutes protecting their back-line with Arrows constantly putting more men forward.
