India and China Face Off Again; PM Modi Holds Meet With High Officials

India, China engage in 3rd military dialogue after skirmishes near the border once again

Tensions are once again on a high between India and China regarding the border issue. Two and a half months after the brutal Galwan Valley clash, India and China are facing off once again. The recent altercation took place after Chinese troops intruded into the southern bank of Pangong Tso.

The Indian Army issued a statement that, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army “carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo” on the night of August 29-30. The “provocative actions” were in violation of the “previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh”.

It further added that the Indian Army is committed to maintaining peace and tranquility through dialogue, but is also equally determined to protect its territorial integrity.

Hours after the incident media reports suggest PM Modi is holding continuous meetings with the high officials to take stock of the situation. The Indian and Chinese militaries have today began the third round of talks at Chushul to resolve the fresh skirmishes at Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh.
