According to the report, the CID is conducting the probe based on the January last High Court order. The investigative agency is also interrogating several other policemen. Though the investigations are on, other than the arrest no further revelations have been made in this case.

Earlier the court had asked the CID (Crime) to investigate the FIR lodged in 1996. In that FIR a lawyer was booked for allegedly carrying 1.5 kg of narcotics in Rajasthan. In the case, the involvement of former judge of Gujarat High Court has also been named.

As per to the report, published in The Hindu, the cops had recovered the narcotics from a room of Lajwanti City Hotel in Palanpur and had arrested lawyer Sumer Singh Rajpurohit, claiming that he was in the possession of narcotics. But later it was found that he was allegedly abducted from his home in Pali in Rajasthan. Also, the drug was subsequently planted by the Banaskantha police, the report added.
