James Anderson looks all set to return in England team for the five match Test series against India commencing from 1st August. The 35-year-old swing bowler who has taken 540 wickets in 138 Tests has been out of action since early June, but will hope to prove his fitness in a second XI match for Lancashire that begins from July 15. He will then feature in a County Championship match against old rivals Yorkshire on July 22.

He feels that the Test series schedule is ridiculous as all five matches are adjusted in a period of six weeks which will be difficult for the players.

“England seamer Jimmy Anderson will make his return to competitive cricket for Lancashire second XI in a three-day match against Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford starting on July 15,” said the official statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board.

James Anderson has not played since the Test victory over Pakistan in June. He has spent the past month rehabilitating a right shoulder injury and returned to bowling in the Lancashire set up and England staff in the past seven days.

He displayed a scintillating bowling performance in the two match Test series against Pakistan in which he took nine wickets at an average of 19.11. Post the series, he needed to rest as his services would be needed when England walk on the field to face an Indian Test side in the month of August.

Anderson is suffering from the shoulder injury over the past two years.

“I just need to get in the gym and get it strong,” he said in June.
