Jammu and Kashmir: Two Hizbul terrorists eliminated
Security forces on Thursday eliminated two terrorists in Shatgund Bala village of Handwara town in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter spot.
After receiving a specific input about the presence of terrorists, a joint team of the Indian Army and a special operations group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a cordon-and-search operation at 2.30 am in the area.
As soon as the terrorists realised of security troopers nearing them, they opened fire. Troopers immediately retaliated and eliminated two terrorists successfully. The slain terrorists belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit.

Meanwhile, the internet services have been suspended in the area and educational institutes have been closed.
Notably, the security has been tightened in all the sensitive areas of Jammu and Kashmir due to local body polls. Jammu and Kashmir witnessed polling for the second phase of urban local body polls yesterday. While Jammu recorded impressive turnout, voting was low in the valley.
On October 5, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel sustained minor injuries after terrorists lobbed a grenade on security forces in Tral area of Pulwama district.
