Jharkhand gangrape: NCW directs DGP to appraise commission on action plan
Taking cognizance of the gangrape of five women activists in Khunti district of Jharkhand on Tuesday, the National Commission for Women had written the state DGP, directing him to appraise the commission about the detail action taken.
Along with issuing directions, the women’s commission have constituted a three member inquiry team to investigate into the case and submit recommendations. Though no arrest has been made so far in the case, state police have picked up 9 suspects for questioning and have registered an FIR against six unidentified people on Thursday.

Police sources have confirmed that DIG Amol V Homkar has issued orders for strict action against the perpetrators of the crime and have formed three teams to probe the incident. Also, Along with Additional Superintendent of Police (operations), Deputy SP and an armed team, IG operations is searching the entire Kochang village where the incident took place.
According to the preliminary investigations, the crime took place when all these five women were present in Kochang village, under the Arki police station of the Khunti district and were to perform a street play, in an order to generate awareness on migration and human trafficking. Around six goons arrived at the place and abducted all these women at gunpoint. They then took them to nearby jungle and gangraped them.
