John Cena surprises ‘Superfan’ Sho Madjozi on The Kelly Clarkson Show
Sho Madjozi's hit single John Cena was released in August
South African rapper Sho Madjozi got the surprise of a lifetime when she met WWE wrestler John Cena on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’. Madjozi was performing her hit single “John Cena” when the wrestler surprised her in California.
The rapper was beside herself with joy when she realized what was happening.
“What do you mean? You said he’s not here.”
The episode has since been vicariously shared online. Cena delighted the fans by dancing to the song the Madjozi had written about the WWE superstar.
Sho said she grew up in rural South Africa watching John Cena wrestle on the only TV in her village. The 27-year-old was exhilarated to see a photo of herself on John Cena’s account.
“I don’t know if he posts for himself but on his page, he put a picture of me and he doesn’t say anything, he doesn’t caption or tag me or anything. I love him, I don’t know what I will do if I see him”, said Madjozi talking about her admiration for the WWE star. Her hit single John Cena was released in August this year. The song has since become an online sensation due to her strong punchlines, beats and flowery Swahili.
Sho Madjozi’s debut single “Dumi HiPhone” was produced by PS DJz and came out in 2017. The track made her an over night sensation in South Africa. Her song “Huku”, however, was what made her a household name in Africa. Huku went on to become the year’s biggest song after its release in March.
Sho Madjozi is the first female South African artist to win a BET award and only the fourth African artist to win for Best New International Act.
