The police further said that the body of the nun — identified as 54-year-old Susan Mathew — taught at St. Stephens School in Pathanapuram which is 80 km from the state capital. Her dead body was found on Sunday at 9 am and it was moved to the state capital for post-mortem.

According to the NDTV reports, the workers at the Mount Tabor Convent  — run by the Kottayam-headquartered Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church — first found blood stains near the well and then saw the body floating inside the well. The worker informed that she was teaching in the school for the last 12 years.

The police are investigating the case and have registered it under unnatural death. They have also taken statements from a few convent employees.
