Korea Drama Awards Winner 2019 List: Choi Soo Jong Wins Grand Excellence Award

Korea Drama Awards Winner 2019: On October 2, the Korea Drama Awards were conducted at the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Center where winners of 2019 were announced. Due to his outstanding performance in ‘My Only One’, Choi Soo Jong won the Grand Excellence Award. In ‘My Only One’ Jong essayed the role of a father who hides his identity and merely lives for his daughter.

This year, male and female top excellence awards were bagged by Kim Dong Wook and Kim Jung respectively. While Life Time Achievement Award is won by Jung Dong Hwan.

“A drama is like an orchestra, so it’s not something that’s born just because someone does a good job,” said Choi Soo Jong.

“Everyone’s hard work and efforts presented themselves like this. I sincerely thank you for this grand award. I’ll continue to work together to achieve good and work hard to be a good influence and be a channel of blessing,” he quoted as saying to Soompi.com.

Besides ‘My Only One’,  JTBC’s popular Korean drama “SKY Castle” won the Best Picture for its story of rich families and their extreme obsession with higher education. “SKY Castle” began with 1 percent in viewership ratings and achieved a peak of 23.8 percent. It has also been chosen by Warner Bros, who signed a contract for a U.S. remake.

The Awards function was held to appreciate and honours all the South Korea Drama that aired in Korea in the past year including the three major networks, cable channels, and general service program channels. The event was graced by Drama stars, directors, writers, staff.
