Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the MLAs at Raj Bhavan in Bhopal. Prominent faces who took oath as ministers include Vijayalaxmi Sadho, Sajjan Singh Verma, Jaivardhan Singh and Hukum Singh Karada. On the other hand, N P Prajapti MLA from Gotegaon will be Madhya Pradesh assembly speaker.

Since the past three days, CM Kamal Nath had been camping in New Delhi to finalise the list of his Cabinet colleagues in consultation with Congress president Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leaders.

It is to be noted that senior Congress leader Kamal Nath was sworn-in as Chief Minister on December 17, six days after his party posted a narrow victory over the BJP, which ruled the state for 15 years.

With 114 seats, the Congress party emerged as the single largest party in the 230-member Assembly. However, it failed to cross the halfway mark on its own and enlisted support of the BSP and the SP, which have won two seats and one, respectively. The BJP had won 109 seats.

The state assembly session is going to begin on January 7 with the oath-taking by newly elected legislators.
